Introduction

Learn how to create and complete your first payment with ICEPAY.

Welcome! This guide takes you from creating an ICEPAY Account to receiving your first payment. The full guide takes about 15 minutes to read.

Throughout this documentation, a customer is the person making a purchase, and a merchant is the business accepting the payment.

A typical payment flow works as follows:

  1. Your application creates a payment with ICEPAY.
  2. The customer is redirected to the ICEPAY Checkout Page to choose a payment method, or directly to the ICEPAY Payment Page or an external provider page for a method you have already selected.
  3. The customer follows the instructions to complete the payment.
  4. Your application receives payment updates through webhooks, and the customer can return to your application through your redirect URL.

Webhooks and customer redirects happen independently and can arrive in either order. Use verified webhooks to update the payment status in your system. A customer may close the page without returning, and some payment methods take longer to reach a final status.
