How payments work
Section titled “How payments work”Once the module is installed and configured, the payment flow is handled automatically.
-
The customer places an order
The customer selects an ICEPAY payment method during checkout and confirms the order.
-
The payment is created
The module creates the payment with ICEPAY using the PrestaShop order information.
-
The customer completes the payment
The customer is redirected to the payment page to complete the payment.
-
The module updates the order and the customer can return
ICEPAY sends a webhook to the module, which validates the payment and updates the order status. The customer is also redirected back to your PrestaShop store after completing or cancelling the payment.
You do not need to create your own payment redirect or webhook endpoints when using the PrestaShop module.
Webhooks and customer redirects happen independently and can arrive in either order. The order status is updated from the verified payment update, even if the customer closes the page without returning.
Refund an order
Section titled “Refund an order”The ICEPAY module supports both full and partial refunds directly from the PrestaShop back office.
-
Open the order
Go to Orders and open the order you want to refund.
-
Start the refund
Use the available refund action on the order details page.
-
Choose the refund amount
Refund the complete payment or enter an amount for a partial refund.
-
Submit the refund
Confirm the refund. The module sends the request to ICEPAY and records the result in the order history.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”ICEPAY payment methods are not visible at checkout
Check that:
- The ICEPAY module is installed and enabled.
- The correct ICEPAY merchant is configured.
- The payment method is enabled in the ICEPAY module configuration.
- The payment method is enabled for your ICEPAY merchant.
- The payment method is available for the customer’s country.
- Your PrestaShop and PHP versions meet the module requirements.
If the payment method still does not appear, clear the PrestaShop cache and test the checkout again.
The payment remains pending
Open the corresponding order in the PrestaShop back office and review its order history.
Then check the payment in the ICEPAY Portal and compare its status with the PrestaShop order.
If the payment has been completed in ICEPAY but the PrestaShop order has not been updated, verify that your store can receive webhook requests from ICEPAY.
If the issue continues, contact the ICEPAY team with the order number, payment reference, Merchant ID, and approximate time of the payment.
Do not include your Merchant Secret in a support request.
The customer cannot complete the payment
Confirm that:
- The correct Merchant ID and Merchant Secret are configured.
- The ICEPAY merchant is enabled.
- The selected payment method is available for the merchant.
- Your PrestaShop store can communicate with ICEPAY.
- Your store is accessible over HTTPS.
If an error is shown during checkout, include the error message when contacting the ICEPAY team.
The customer is not redirected back to the store
Make sure your PrestaShop storefront is publicly accessible and uses HTTPS.
If the payment itself was completed successfully, check the payment in the ICEPAY Portal before taking further action.
A browser redirect should not be used on its own to determine the final payment status.
The payment status in PrestaShop differs from the ICEPAY Portal
Open the PrestaShop order and review its order history.
Use the payment details and server-side payment status in the ICEPAY Portal when investigating the payment.
If the statuses remain different, verify that payment status updates from ICEPAY can reach your store.
Contact the ICEPAY team with the PrestaShop order number, payment reference, Merchant ID, and approximate time of the payment if the issue continues.
A refund cannot be processed
Confirm that:
- The original payment supports refunds.
- The payment has reached a status that allows a refund.
- The refund amount does not exceed the refundable amount.
- The correct ICEPAY merchant credentials are configured.
Review the order history for information about the failed refund.
If the refund still cannot be processed, contact the ICEPAY team with the order number, payment reference, Merchant ID, and any relevant error message.
The module does not work after an update
Confirm that your PrestaShop, PHP, and ICEPAY module versions are compatible.
Make sure the ICEPAY module is still installed and enabled, then clear the PrestaShop cache.
Verify that your Merchant ID, Merchant Secret, payment methods, country settings, and order status mappings are still configured correctly.
If the issue continues, contact the ICEPAY team with the module version, PrestaShop version, PHP version, and any relevant error message.
